Spring Fever Means Home Improvements For Me

Site News - March 7, 2009

It’s the first full weekend of warm weather we’ve had here in New Jersey since about October, and my thoughts are already racing with about a hundred home improvement projects I’d like to get done around the house. On Monday people were sledding on the roads and shoveling their cars out from 10 inches of snow but six days later it’s over 60 degrees, the snow is mostly gone and people are out running and riding bikes.

spring fever home improvementsMe? I’ve already been to Lowe’s once, and I have a trip to Home Depot planned later. The Lowe’s Creative Magazine arrived in the mail today with the headline “Welcome Back Spring” and I couldn’t agree more. There’s something about the warm weather that just makes me want to start working and improving on things around the house.

In the past two hours alone I’ve thought about replacing more of our dated interior doors, considered planting some shrubs along the back line of our new fence, spoken to a salesman about replacement front door options, done some basic research on hanging drywall as part of my basement remodel, read an article filled with ideas for laying down pavers in a back patio and checked out in the garage to see what sort of fresh paint I have available. Sure, all these things cost money I may not have at first, but that’s what home improvement loans are for. Besides, isn’t that a good way to help our economy?

At any rate, it’s a pretty nice day here so I’m going to get out and enjoy it: I’m going to go look for something to work on around the house!
