If you have a Lowe’s hardware store chain near you then you know the quality and wide selection of hardware, home improvement projects and general home merchandise they offer, but sometimes their prices are a little higher than some of the other big box hardware stores like The Home Depot or even 84 Lumber. I’m lucky enough to have both a Lowe’s hardware store and a Home Depot about five miles from my home (and about a half mile from each other) but I find myself going to Lowe’s a lot more.

Get Lowe’s hardware store coupons in the mail: One of the reasons I tend to go to Lowe’s for things like hardware and home improvement supplies is because I regularly get coupons in the mail from Lowe’s. The great thing is that anyone can get these coupons if they’re smart enough to do one thing: sign up for all the free Lowe’s Home Improvement Store Creative Ideas Newsletter that I’ve told you all about before!

Today I just received the Lowe’s hardware store Winter 2008-2009 Creative Ideas Home and Garden magazine and besides having some decent home decoration ideas that my wife liked, there were also two Lowe’s coupons glued inside! One of the Lowe’s coupons is for $10 off any $50 or more purchase and the other Lowe’s coupon is for $25 any $250 purchase. The issue before that had $50 off any Lowe’s hardware store installation purchase. In the last Lowe’s woodworker’s magazine there was a coupon for a free VarioClippix if you bought a BESSEY K-body clamp. Of course, all the design ideas and even the few advertisements are meant to bring you into your local Lowe’s hardware store and spend some cash, but I’m okay with that. I figure I go to Lowe’s enough as it is and I almost always buy something, so a coupon for home improvements is kind of like getting free money in the mail!

Not every magazine from Lowe’s comes with a coupon but all the magazines from Lowe’s have different home ideas or hardware and tool reviews or at least something interesting to learn about. I’m also finding that some of the projects actually have more resources and plans available online as well for information and things that won’t fit in the magazine. Again, all these Lowe’s hardware store magazines are free, so even if you don’t find anything you like in one issue the next issues might have coupons and some great ideas.

Get Lowe’s hardware store coupons in email: Another way to get heads up on discounts (okay, not really coupons per se) is to sign up for their email notifications right from the front page of the Lowe’s home improvement store website. You can get see upcoming sales, special promotions on products and may learn about services that you wouldn’t normally see. Good example: I received an email from Lowe’s letting me know that they now have free shipping on orders of $49 or more from their website. That’s good to know, especially if I want to order something and my local Lowe’s hardware store doesn’t have it in stock.

There are also some people who try to use Lowe’s coupon codes they found on the internet, but I have to be honest with you: I’ve rarely gotten them to work well. I don’t buy a lot of things online from Lowes, but the few times I have I wasn’t able to get any of the coupon codes to work at the time. I’d almost rather go to hardware store in person and see what I’m buying for some things anyway.

This may not be for everyone, but if you’re going to be visiting your local Lowe’s hardware store anyway you might as well do what I do: sign up for the free magazines and email subscription and start getting those Lowe’s coupons in the mail!
