Home Restoration Blogs I’m Reading Lately

Blogs - December 10, 2007

I’ve taken some breaks from tackling any big projects on my home for the moment while I save up some cash for some spring outdoor projects. But while I may not be working on my own living space very much at the moment, I’m definitely still getting my share of home improvement learning through the experience of others. Here are a few home restoration blogs I’m checking in on from time to time. Most of them are tacking projects much bigger than just simple updates…

Foxcroft - Following the restoration of a 1928 Craftsman. Mike and Lisa have a lot of big projects in their home and Mike writes with humor and provides plenty of great photos. He hasn’t been posting much about home repairs lately, but it’s still entertaining reading and easy to keep up with.

649th 6th – A really amazingly designed blog and home with a definite natural modern feel to it, this restoration project has been going on for years. I only recently started reading it and the more photos I see the more I’m amazed by the design elements and bold look. Definitely a top notch read for inspiration and beautiful design ideas!

StuccoHouse - Billed as the “ups and downs of restoring a 1924 vintage bungalow” this blog is really a fun read because she shows a lot of the great old restoration hardware that gives older homes a real sense of character. I also like this blog because she doesn’t sugar coat some of the humorous and frustrating experiences she’s had with just getting simple things fixed. If nothing else, this makes you feel better when you’ve had one of those awful home ownership days.

I am reading a few others as well, but I thought I’d point these out first because they all feature top-notch writing, they’re all updated pretty frequently and they’re generally fun and interesting to read.

And, yes, they all make me feel slightly guilty for not doing more with my own home…

Information Improvisation
Today there are many jobs for home decorators since people don’t have time to waste on planning and thinking. There are companies for this purpose and they know that their sales depend upon excellent customer service. New homes without decorations and luxuries such as swimming pools are incomplete. The comfort level can be enhanced by having luxurious bedding and sitting furnishings. One should never compromise on the quality and comfort level of outdoor furniture since many families like to spend time outdoors and good furniture can optimize their experience. The whole outlook of the house can be changed by right home lighting system. A soft look can be achieved by in-house plantations which can be done by arranging the daily flower delivery.

Hey, thanks for the plug. Glad you enjoy reading my blog :-) Just one correction StuccoHouse=her.

Had to chuckle at your comment about feeling guilty….cuz I read other blogs and they make me feel like I’m doing nothing. And so the cycle continues……
