Design Ideas for Do-It-Yourselfers at Curbly.com

I get a kick out of improving my home, but I’m not always very creative when it comes to adding some design to what already functions. That’s why I’ve been checking out Curbly.com more and more lately. When you first visit Curbly to look for design ideas for your own home you’ll probably be completely overwhelmed by everything that’s available.

Do-It-Yourself Home Design and Improvements at Curbly.com.

That’s because Curbly is more than just a “home design and improvement idea” site in the traditional sense of showing you a bunch of ideas one after the other. Instead, Curbly is a living, breathing, active community of members (myself included) who share their own home improvement ideas, offer suggestions to comments, blog about their projects and provide plenty of great photos of their own. It’s like having a whole team of do-it-yourselfers living in your home helping you with any questions you might have or inspiration you might need.

That being said, you can still get plenty out of Curbly without going to the forums at all. There is a traditional blog posting format with lots of features including Before & After photos of projects, a DIY section, a category dedicated to books, one dedicated to food and many of their projects have a thrifty angle to them so that you can save money while decorating your home.

You’ll quickly see that the great thing about Curbly is the many different kinds of resources you have available to you. They have some original content, but they’re mostly finding great things from hundreds of home improvement blogs, maker sites and DIY web tutorials across the web and then filtering out the best ones to cover. Sometimes they find projects that require you to join a free site or submit your email address for all the information you need, but that’s not very common and usually not very obtrusive when its used.

And the topics they cover are as diverse as the members and locations they call home. The articles and posts range from building your own furniture to arts and crafts decorations to saving money to flipping a house! I’m always astounded and amazed at what I come across each week on Curbly.
